Customer just sent me an email asking about adding a few circuits for his basement. His existing panel is a General Switch MB-100-14. According to him the information sheet on the door of the panel lists Siemens / ITE QP as an allowed replacement. If this is correct, will a Siemens QAFH type work in this panel?

Does it really mention Siemens? AFAIK General Switch was gone long before Siemens acquired the ITE series.

That said it likely works, but that doesn't mean it is acceptable to an AHJ, which I bet is what you are really wondering about:happyyes:

Yes, I questioned him and he sent this picture to me of the panel cover.
Yes I was looking to see if anyone has or had any issues with AHJ with this install.

Siemens must have acquired ITE further back than I realized, but kept it as a separate line for a while.

That said I don't know what the difference is between the QA and QP that you mentioned. Maybe different interrupt rating, or is one an older model and the other what has replaced it?

Siemens-Allis bought the distribution & controls div. (I-T-E) of Gould Inc. about 1984, & Siemens took full control a few years later.

I think the ITE name still appeared on products for at least 10 years after that, maybe even close to 15 years.
