We have an existing service where directly after the meter we hit service distribution blocks which run multiple three wire (URD/USE cable) services to separate buildings / equipment. Each Building has a code compliant service (MBJ, GEC...). The question is does the code allow a service rated transfer switch and generator to be installed at the distribution point without having to change the cables feeding each building to a 4 wire feeder? The code I specifically am wondering if it would apply would be 250.32 (B)(1)expno.1 as when you install the Service rated transfer switch you are technically changing the existing 3- wire feeds from service conductors to feeder conductors?
