I have a new cummins onan natural gas generator and 2ea automatic transfer switches to install. The customer would like it to provide power to two separate houses on the same property. The 2ea houses have separate 200amp services. The transfer switches are rated for 200amps. The generator is only 80 amps. The customer just plans to use it to run the shared well and lighting in a power outage. Per the customer's request, I bought 1ea generator and 2ea transfer switches. I spoke with a cummins field tech on the phone when I was there purchasing the generator. He said that they have hooked up one of their generators to 2ea separate houses, with separate transfer switches, and it does work. He said they spliced the generator service and low voltage cables together at some point that lead to the 2ea separate houses, so they didn't have to double lug the generator. The Cummins eletrical engineer wasn't in his office when I purchased the generator. The generator only has one set of lugs for power and low voltage controls. I haven't started installing it yet, and have tried to contact the engineer by phone with no luck so far. I was wondering if anyone has attempted something like this in the forum? There isn't anything in the installation instructions on this install.

You have several other problems also. First you are feeding two separate services with one generator which can be done but you will have to switch the neutral. Second how do you plan on complying 702.4 (B)(2)?

702.4b2b

702.4b2b

It looks like a subpanel would do the trick (only connect the generator to the subpanel loads). I will have to check into the "switching the neutral".
