I have emergency branch which to comply with NEC 2017 Article 700.3(F) has MTS which then feeds portable generator. The portable generator is typically connected with inlet but in this case engineer provided fused disconnect.

Where in NEC 2017 Article 700 it says portable generator connected to inlet?

So this portable generator will be used as a "Temporary Source of Power for Maintenance or Repair of the Alternate Source of Power" and be covered under Article 700 not 702?

The code does not specify the type of connection, other than it cannot require modifications to the permanent wiring system to connect the temporary power source. All of the ones I have seen were larger and used a generator connection box with portable power cable and cam-lok connectors.
You would have to install the connection device with a permanent connection to the fused disconnect.

As Don stated there is no requirement for an inlet for this type of installation, You can purchase a disconnecting means designed for Camloks as Don suggested.

Drawing shows regular fused disconnect nothing their shows disconnecting means designed for camloks??

The code does not care about the method of connection....you could connect the generator cables directly to the lugs on the fused disconnect, but the generator cables will likely be finely stranded conductors and the disconnect lugs will not be suitable for making that type of connection.
The terminals in the fused disconnect would comply with the code requirements, and the connection of the generator is not part of the construction project and does not need to be specified on the construction documents.

The companies that provide temp power are well versed in how to connect generators for this requirement. You should ask them what they would like to have and have owner or engineer put in specs. Or have engineer provide more details
