This is a 3 part question:
Question #1 What section of the code (if any) would cover the installation of a concrete "Trenya" trench and lid? This concrete trough will have 735.2 kcm (locomotive type cables) rated at 732 Amps each.

The cables will be placed in the trench from a 480V 2285 kVA generator to a 2500kVA transformer. The distance is approximately 30'.

Question #2 Should the single cables be grouped together one conductor per phase and spaced at 2.15" intervals as stated in the cable tray specifications, Articles 392.80 and 392.1(B)4?

Question #3 Should the cables be derated to 50% as per Article 310.15(B)2(a) Table, if not so grouped and spaced?

Thank you for your help.

Gregory

Re: Generator Cabling

my first thought is to ask whether the locomotive cable is dual listed as a type the nec recognizes.

also, since it is underground, is it suitable for wet areas?

Re: Generator Cabling

I don't have an answer as this is not directly covered in the code. I know that is a common type of industrial installation, but appears to be outside of the code rules.
You could try posting here.
