Hi,

Customer purchased 14kw Generac some time ago. Thought he would do it himself. He has main panel with a sub
next to it. Each with circuits to be switched to generator. I'm mounting generator transfer switch next to these.
I've read 312.8 and it seems legal to connect the generator circuit whip to the adjacent panel (main) and pass the
other generator circuits through to the other panel (sub).

This should be ok. Otherwise I would need to separate the generator circuit into 2. The original whip, and a 3/4"
raceway to the sub.

There is no problem using one panel as a raceway to the next panel as long as you bring all the neutrals with the circuits to the appropriate panel where the circuits originate.

Thanks. I have a few circuits that are going to the generator that share the neutral with circuits that will not be switched
over. Two of the extra neutrals are easy, the other not so.

This is correct but just one minor addition that is usually assumed - You need to have the trough space for the wire. In some of the older panels like Federal Pacific you're not going to have enough room. I presume you don't have that situation.
