I have a customer that has two buildings on the same property. The out building is currently fed from the service in the main house. We are going to be disconnecting the line between the buildings and installing a separate service on the out building.
The customer would like to utilize the existing underground conduit to install wiring for connection of his portable generator since the generator is stored in that building, making the connection easier.
The construction of the building where he'd like to have the generator inlet is such that the simplest way to install the wiring would be through the building. According to 230.3, service conductors for one building can't pass through another building, but the feed from a generator isn't a service. I'm having trouble finding anything addressing whether the feed from a generator can or can't pass through another building.
Thoughts?
