I would like to know why some portable generators supply a 240/120-vlt 4-wire outlet with 2 separate breakers. I connected one to a Generac load management panel and when one breaker tripped the 230-volt pump was running off the other leg at 120. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Shouldn?t there be a handle tie when this configuration is fed? I thought about feeding it through a stand-alone breaker first but not sure of the characteristics of the different breakers. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, Pat.
