we are installing a new exterior generator and exterior ats for an existing facility. both to be located across the parking lot adjacent to the existing exterior pad mount transformer. the ats is service rated, 3-wire, solid neutral. the existing undergorund feeders from the transformer (which we will now flop into the ats) to existing building main electrical panel do not contain a grounding conductor. The electrical inspector is going to require us to now install grounding conductors in with these existing underground feeders. Is there any exception for existing situations so we dont have to install the grounding conductors?
