I am currently working on a design where a 1000kw generator will feed two 120/208V transfer switches. One switch is a 2500A. The other is a 2000A. This would equate to 1620kw at full rated load. Actual calculated load is well below 1000kw, so we are okay! Larger switches were purchased now in anticipation of future building expansion. Larger generator was too much $$$. If building expansion happens, larger generator will be a part of the building expansion cost. Remaining electrical infrastructure will (hopefully) be adequate for the future expansion making the electrical install much easier.
