Is a seperate junction box required between a transfer switch and the main panel or can the circuit connections be made inside the main panel, as suggested in the manufacturer's installation instructions?

It is always good to follow the manufacturer's instructions. But, I am curious, where did you get the idea there had to be a separate J-box between the T-switch and the Main?
