Getting Amperage reading on a parallel run

I am trying to measure the load on an existing 600A panel with parallel feeders. I don't think I will be able to fit my clamp meter all the way around the parallel feeders. I was wondering if I took the reading off each individual wire in the parallel run and then added them together if that would work? If not, does anyone else have any suggestions?

Yes. Some would even measure one and multiply by the number of conductors. Adding is more accurate.

There is a clamp-on accessory that is a flexible wire loop that can encircle several conductors at one time.

Just to spell it out, here is what I think you are saying:
(1) Measure each phase A wire separately, and add them up.
(2) Measure each phase B wire separately, and add them up.
(3) Measure each phase C wire separately, and add them up.
(4) Take the average of those three numbers (not the sum of the three numbers), to get the total amps.

If that is what you are saying, then I agree with the others - yes you can do it this way.
