How do you reinstall lights after vinyl siding is installed? The fixture is about 1 inch from the box when the cover plate (forms a ?J? channel for the siding) from the siding is put on. Do you need an extension ring?

Yes, you would need an extention ring or other means to bring the box flush with the surface of the wall, see 314.20.

In a perfect world, you would mount a siding adapter in place BEFORE the siding goes up ~ it just makes everyone's life easier....the adapter has a built in J-channel.

Here is a couple shots of a fixture installed on my own house:

You probably need something :-?

Arlington has lots of items that will work.

The fixture never gets installed where it used to be. Siders stock 3 inch drywall screws for mounting the fixture bar. You are lucky if half the original fixture box get covered by the NEW fixture location.
