The owner can elect to have coverage on him/herself, if the business is a sole proprietorship or LLC. If the business is a corporation then the "owner" is not an owner but an employee and is therefor covered.

Would workers comp. cover the owner of the company? Thank you for your help.

many people mistakenly believe that workers comp WILL NOT cover the owner...if your workers comp does not cover you as the the owner you have the wrong policy...this urban legend has spread because all owners have the option to purposely opt out of their WC policy for no coverage...no law REQUIRES you to cover yourself as the owner...rather than zero coverage many prefer to get their own personal 24/7 disabilty package...such policies are cheaper and offer better coverages...the only gray area of coverage would be as the owner if you enter yourself in the office/secretarial catagory (a much lower rate) then have to explain how you got hurt falling of a ladder...

That is how we have it as a corporation, we are all covered

It looks as if the answer will depend on your location.

Workmans' Comp in Nevada ... my policy did cover me, but the maximum coverage was significantly less than for everyone else.

Most of the states you have a choice, but many opt out thinking they can same money, and nothing will happen , and when something does happen they learn how cheap comp insurance really is.

You may not be required to carry under some conditions, but who is crazy enough to allow you on their property if your not covered?

My electrician boss who is also the President at a part time job I work at received an eye injury on the job. His workman's comp covered it. He was also very lucky to recover fully.
