All,

When my house is being framed, I will be able to go in and run additional coax, data and voice lines throughout the house. Because of my computer / network background- I already have the go ahead from the contractor.

My question is-- what is a good reference book(s) on how to run the cables throughout the house? I am familiar with J hooks, and terminating everything from my work experience; but not much on the 'should I drill down from the ceiling or up through the floor?', etc. In addition, I haven't seen much on the need for plenum cable in residential settings (south Chicago suburb if it matters), so any clarification on that would be helpful.

To be honest, I'm not going to go nuts. I'm currently planning on doing 4 coax runs, 4 pots runs, and about 12 data lines.

Any recommendations on books / training would be appreciated.
