OK, folks. Here is the deal. I have been in electronics for 35 years. But my ELECTRICAL training as far as NEC and exams has been the books at Home Depot.

So at the age of 48 I am thinking of training to get a license as an electrician. NOTE: I now work as an industrial electrician, but it electronic and computer work, not pulling wires.

Where and how do I start? I learn well on my own, are they good books?

Thanks

Believe it or not, in Westchester County, NY they require proof of working with a licensed electrical contractor for 11 1/2 years. They have turned down a considerable number of applicants who cannot show proof, by letters from past employers or W2 statements.
I think you should contact your licensing board to see what their requirements are. They do not accept licenses from other jurisdictions - let me tell you some guys get really mad.

On the same topic, and not to take anything away from Mike Holt, has anyone used or heard good things about Snapz Master Electrician computer based training program? Knowing my study history, I've done a lot better at exams where I used CBT programs as opposed to book studying.
