Greetings-
I am an electrical idiot, but I am preparing to have a new hot tub put in and I want to have everything ready for an electrician to hook it up once it is delivered. My old hot tub (12 years old) was connected to a 50A GFCI, but the breaker was about 20 feet from the tub and not easily accessible. I have been told that now emergency shut-off switches are required to be 5-10 feet away from the tub.
My question: Can I simply go from the existing GFCI box to a non-GFCI shut off switch, and then to the tub or must the shut-off switch also be GFCI?
Thanks for your patience with the electrical idiot.
