GFCI calibration?

I was reading a manual on pool equipment heat pumps when I read this statement "GFI circuit breakers are prone to drift out of calibratation, and thus may generate nuisance tripping." I didnt know GFCI's were calibrated or could drift out of calinbration. Any thoughts on this statement?

I over heard an engineer one day talking about how his instructor said to a class that with the application of electronic's that the failure of any part of the assembly can be designed in.

What's the Design Life of a GFCI ?
