Today we did an install for a little 2 person hot tub on a back porch. The hot tub came with a GFCI cord so my journeyman said to use the single recep exception and install that instead of a GFCI since the hot tub already had protection. Is it bad practice to use a GFCI recep for equipment that has a GFCI cord? My thought is that the single recep exception goes away in the 2014 code (I think) so this kind of install will happen all the time.
