I had a request to install a standard plug horizontally, however, the customer wants the ground plug facing down, intead of the standard postion. I haven't been able to locate such an item, and was wondering if there was a reason related to the NEC that they aren't manufactured that way?

Re: Gfci dirction part of NEC?

There is no standard positon. It can go up down or sideways. This question comes up a lot, you can search this site for past replies. What we've been doing lately is to close these posts as they really are not important, as if you install ground up, everyone else is wrong and vice versa.
The NEC does not have a requirement.
Note that GFCIs have the text printed two directions.
