I have been requested to install a 2 pole, 30a GFCI breaker in place of a standard 2 pole, 30a for safety reasons. There is no neutral conductor pulled in. This was installed by a outside contractor and passed by the electrical inspector. There is a low voltage transformer (240vac primary/ 24vac secondary) for control voltage, and there is a neutral off the secondary side. My question is: Where do I land the neutral conductor for a 240v system in the control panel to give it GFCI protection? Do we really need GFCI protection?
