GFCI in a wp enclosure

The prints call for an GFCI in a 6x6 weather proof enclosure in a baseball dug out. There is no roof on the dug out and it is definitely in a wet location. My concern is that when the outlet is being used it will not be protected by an in-use cover. The door to the wp enclosure would be open and if it rains or the sprinklers where to come on it would get wet. Is this going to pass inspection, or am I going to have to change the whole setup so I can install an in-use cover?

Thanks

Can you just install a in use cover inside the enclosure? If not can you notch the bottom of the box so that the cord can rest in the notch with the door closed?

It also seems like this outlet is there for workers so the chances of it being open when it's raining may not be likely. I would ask the AHJ and see how they intend to use it.

You could buy a combination AC disconnect/GFCI recep, they're about 6x6 and it uses an in-use cover over the GFCI. I just bought one the other day for about 50 bucks or so. By the time you factor labor of mounting a genuine 6x6 box with a WP box inside it with an in-use cover you'd be way ahead of the curve.

Not exactly to spec but it doesn't sound like anyone who knows what they're doing wrote them anyway....
