I have recently been called out to a local pool that wants to gfi their pool lights. I have it set up that the large pool is on one cicuit that will draw 11.8amps, a hot tub has its own that circuit that draws 3amps, and some ground lights that draw 6 amps that also have their own circuit. I installed the seimans gfi breakers after tracing out the wiring to make sure the neutrals were all separate. I put each on the own photocell. Everything worked fine for me when I checked it out by taping up the photocell everything worked. The next day I got a call saying that the circuits trip out on the gfi. If everything worked for me on my tests...could my wiring be to blame or should i be looking elsewhere...I think it might be the old wire that has been underwater for so long..my boss doesn't think so...ant ideas...thanks.

Re: Gfci on poollights

What size circut is the pool on?
Did you take the 11.8a reading with the lights on and all of the pumps running?
The same for the hot tub. Are you sure the heater was on and all of the jets when you took a 3amp reading?

Re: Gfci on poollights

everything is 20 amp...its only the lights on the circuit...pump motors and etc, are at a remote location.
