I would like to know if the code has changed for all the outlets within 6 feet of a sink had to be GFI or can they still be fed from the load od another GFI outlet

6' applies only to wet bar sinks.

All of the receptacles that are installed to serve the contertops in kitchens have to be installed with ground-fault circuit interrupter protection. The code does not specify which receptacles have to be the actual GFCIs. They could be protected by a GFCI breaker.
