Hello Everyone,
Looking thru the NEC to find specific code reference to a submersible Aqua Thruster.
The manufacturer recommends it to be GFCI protected, however the manufacturer doesn't give any NEC references.
I was searching for a specific code article which would define it. I have a customer that asked if NEC has any references.
I know this being a submersible motor it should be GFCI protected.

Thanks for your input/feedback,

Rdub.

Just because it is submersible doesn't automatically kick in GFCI protection requirements from NEC. There are many submersible pumps that don't have GFCI protection.

Since it’s recommended by the manufacturer, I’d just do it. Do you expect all manufacturer’s recommendations to include a code reference?

on the other side of the fence is all the products that say not to use a GFCI, yet it is a type of product that by nature is often utilized in locations where NEC will require GFCI protection.:(
