In residential, GFCI is generally required for all outside locations. At one time, receptacles above a certain height were not required to be GFCI protected. Does this still exist ?
The iinstallation is under an eve of the roof = Only if they supply deicing equipment -- WR type recept & flip lid WR -- the deicing equipment will be GFCI in most cases anyway with an EPD.
210.52(E) talks about the required outdoor outlets cannot be over 6 1/2' from grade level -- 210.8(A) calls out the specific locations in Dwelling units for recepts to be GFCI protected -- (3) states outdoor -- The exibit 210.11 has changed in the 2014 handbook(does not show a 6 1/2' marking height) The commentary some how refers to 210.52(E) as if outdoors means to only include outdoor specific receptacles as defined and installed under 6 1/2'. Not sure how they made that jump as the reqirement in 210.52(E) only requires 1 recept at specific locations to meet the need. Now if you had met the min requirements of 210.52(E) does an extra recept have to be GFCI even if it is below 6 1/2'.
The plans show 6 "w/p" receptacles + one located @ A/C @ grade level (under the wrap-around-porch all 4 sides). The soffit receptacles would be over 8 feet above grade.
