Under the 2017 NEC is there a code reference that requires a 240v 30 or 50 amp receptacle on the outside of a single family dwelling to have GFCI protection ?

Not required on residential other than where specifically noted such as Art 625 (EV) and Art 680.

2017 if it were other than dwellings would require GFCI. Only 125 volt 15 and 20 amp receptacles are mentioned for the general 210.8 requirements in dwellings anyway.
