I am looking for NEC clarification for the required GFCI protection for Dwelling Units.
Article 210.8(a)(11), from my understanding, requires GFCI protection for Laundry Areas in a readily accessible location for all 125V through 250V receptacles.
Article 210.8(d)(8-12), for Specific Appliances, GFCI protection shall be provided for appliances listed in 1-12 which includes Wall-mounted ovens and Clothes Dryers rated for 150V or less to ground and 60 amperes or less single- or 3-phase.
This seems to be a contradiction and many contractors, electrical suppliers, and some electrical inspectors are stating 220V clothes dryers and/or 220V 50A or less Wall ovens to have 2-pole GFCI breakers installed? They are substantially more expensive and from how I'm interpreting the code, they are NOT required. Am I misunderstanding or overlooking something?
