I have a situation where a gfci trips when toaster and a one cup coffee maker are running at the same time. It does not trip breaker just the reset buuton on gfi. Will a gfi act as a overcurrent device. I was thinking the appliances had a issue with its wiring. Any Ideas!!

Thanks

I don't think the gfi button trips with just one at a time. Thats why I was wandering about the reset button on gfi acts as a overcurrent device. Its a 20A GFCI receptacle at stake.

Most toasters and coffee makers have two wire cords and plastic or rubber feet on the bottom. I don't see how they would trip a GFCI unless they were sitting in water on a grounded surface or somehow externally grounded. As far as acting as an OCPD I've never heard of that.

There is likely some leakage between the 2 .Get a short cord out of truck and move one of them to a seperate area or counter and test it.Cure will be replace one or both of them.GFCI do not handle over current.
Out of curiousity i just checked out our toaster and the plug is not polarized.Perhaps this could be part of problem.
