GFCI requirement Chronology

Can anyone kindly furnish me with the dates that GFCI bacame required in specific areas?

An open question such as that deserves a narrowing answer. Are you looking for something outside of the scope of dwellings such as roof top air handling? or vehicle repair shops?, or just dwelling units? When they became required, or what they are currently?

I'm writing a book.

I was hoping for the chronology in home construction. exterior, bathrooms, garages, kitchens within 6' of sinks then all countertops, wet bars, crawlspaces, etc.

Hoping for when each area became required and when it was modified.
