GFCI Trips on Pond Fountain

I have a pond fountain with 3 submerged lights. The pump is controlled by a mechanical timer and the light is controlled by a photo sensor. Both the pump and the lights are connected to a single blank face GFCI. The pump runs fine until the light comes on in the evening, and then the GFCI trips a few minutes later. The light also works fine without the pump. Only when both are on does the GFI trip. Tried a new GFCI, but nothing changed. Anyone ever encounter anything like this before?
