GFCI WiFi

Lock that in the vault of "Good to Know", especially for the 2nd home crowd or people with sump pumps. My home is old enough that I don't need a GFCI for my fridge, or even the one in the garage. So long as I don't change anything, I'm good.

Personally, I don't relish the thought of yet ANOTHER freaking device "communicating" to me... I recently bought all new kitchen appliances, all capable of WiFi communications to an app... I didn't set any of them up. I don't need my oven telling me it is ready or dishwasher telling me it is done. It's done when it's done. I briefly contemplated connecting the fridge, because it can supposedly infer from your patterns of opening it, when you will need milk. But for the past 65 years+, I have used my eyes and they have yet to fail to inform me... My millennial daughter on the other hand has everything "connected" to apps on her phone. But she rarely cooks, so what's the point?

My only recent concession was that I bought a "Meater" WiFi connected thermometer for the grill. It not only shows you the meat temperature remotely (so no opening the hood), but it calculates the expected cook time. I have used it several times now, it does a fantastic job. If you didn't get what you wanted for Christmas and want to treat yourself now, I highly recommend it (there are several brands, all are reviewing well, this was just the first)..

OK, I just ordered a Meater 2 Plus. Looks impressive. I had looked at connected thermometers a while back but stayed away as they all looked pretty cheesy. But this looks like a whole other league. My brother has one and loves it.

Good to know to recommend to customers perhaps. I'll stick with the regular DUPLEX at my house (no not a single), so I have a spare for whatever else might come up.
My father in law tried to get me to do that for him becuase his block heater kept tripping the gfi. He plugged it into a non gfied freezer outlet and shocked himself pretty good because the block heater inlet had busted and was bare frame to the hot side of the inlet. It was parked outside close to his panel and ufer with a big mud puddle next to it. We fixed the inlet in the end not remove the gfi.

If I ever move or sell out I'm gonna have to spend a fortune on GFI receptacles...

I can see service calls for the my GFCI didn't WiFi alert me it was tripped...and, oh, by the way, my Internet is out :)

I have a 2022 Hyundai. I seldom drive it my GF does. The owners manual is 1 1/4 thick. I can drive it but half the stuff in it I don't even know how it works and I only read the book if I have to.

I avoid apps whenever possible. I access my bank accounts on my computer, not my phone.
I access this site as well as others through apps on my phone but I dont do banking or bill paying through an app. Computer access only
