COULD SOMEONE PLEASE CLARIFY THE RULE ON THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF DEVICES YOU CAN PROTECT ON THE LOAD SIDE OF A GFI RECEPTACLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD 6, BUT ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT IT HAD ALSO BEEN CHANGED. I TRIED AN "OLD SCHOOL" SEARCH THROUGH THE CODE BOOK-TO NO AVAIL.OF THE TWO CODE ARTICLES ORIGINALLY REF TO 1)NO LONGER EXISTS,
2)HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PERMANENT INSTALLATIONS OF GFI'S.THANKS

Could someone please clarify the rule on the maximum number of devices you can protect on the load side of a gfi receptacle. I have been told 6, but also been told that it had also been changed. I tried an "old school" search through the code book-to no avail.of the two code articles originally ref to 1)no longer exists,
2)has nothing to do with permanent installations of gfi's.thanks

Please turn off the ALL CAPS. It makes your post hard to read and is usually indicative of a person yelling.
There is no NEC rule concerning the number of devices that may be protected by a GFCI. There may be something in the instructions that come with the device that limits this number, or you may check in the UL "White Book" to see if there is something in their testing that limits the number of devices. I have an old "White Book" and I can't find any thing about a limitation on the number of devices.
