yes they are required all outdoor outlets to be on gfci and INUSE cover not the flat cheap cover it was enforced in 99 code and i know 02 even push more area to use but check with local codes admendmets too ( my is state of wisconsin required all outdoor outlets to be gfci 120 v sp and some 240 if required )
210.8(B) requires GFCI protected receptacle outlets for (1) Bathrooms, (2) Rooftops, and (3) Kitchens. Where do you get the requirements for other receptacle outlets?
unless it is a single device for a specific piece of equipment?? Permanent location for a temp. sump pump? Other wise I don't think there is any reason not to put a gfi in, safety first!
GFCI's are not required for outside commerical building receptacles, but a bubble cover is required.
Washington State will require this when our new state rules are adopted in a few weeks.
