I am supposed to go out for a service call where the custormer has a regualar receptacle on the deck fed from a kitchen countertop GFCI rec. He said that everytime he plugs anything into the deck receptacle the GFCI in the kitchen will trip. Any ideas will be appreciated. Tx.

Re: GFCI

Check to see it the neutral is fed from the line side of the gfci or of another circuit. also when you take the cover off look inside to see if the ground wire is close to the load neutral as if there is a little movment in the receptacle it will touch the neutral and cause the gfci to trip

Re: GFCI

The kitchen countertop circuit is a small appliance branch circuit and is not permitted to feed the outside deck receptacle.

Don, wasn't this unfortunately allowed a few code cycles ago?

Just did a job in Kent County, Maryland where they are still under the 1993 Code cycle. We used 2002 Code.
