Cold Room in a lab for a health care facility, has a counter space and a sink, does the recepticals in this room need to be GFCI protected? If so what is the code section. This cold room is basically a "walk-in cooler"

Re: GFCI?

517.20 would be the code article. With the information provided, I'd say no.

Russ

Do they wash down this cooler?

Re: GFCI?

I WAS UNCERTAIN SINCE THAT IT HAD A SINK AND COUNTERTOP, THAT IT WAS CONCIDERED A "WET LOCATION" ALSO THERE ARE CHEMICALS AND "CENTERFUGES, CRYOSTATS, AND OTHER EQUIPMENT USING THE OUTLETS.

Re: GFCI?

I don't think that just because it's kept cold it would be considered wet. I also don't believe the receptacle serving the counter space is required to be GFCI, but one could be installed if you wanted to make it a safer installation
