Do we need GFCI in following cases in an Industrial Plant:

1. An receptacle which is not in kitchen but planned to be used for a coffee pot.

2. A water chiller with water bottle placed upside down plugged into an outlet.

3. A refrigerator ina kitchen area plugged into a wall outlet but not accessible.

4. Existing non GFCI receptacles in a Boiler House withbwater pumps etc. and wet floor.

5. In Class I, Div 2 area non GFCI type receptacle with in 6' of a water hose connection.

6. Existing outdoor GFCI receptacle but not in "Rain tight while in-use" type cover. Does it need to be upgraded with a new cover?

7. In mamnufacturing areas what are the guide lines for having GFCI's?

Your comments on the above are highly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: GFCI

Item 3 is the only location where the code requires GFCI protection. See 210.8(B) For item 6, 406.8(B)(1) requires an "in use" cover. As far as item 7, many are installing GFCI protection in areas not coverd by 210.8(B) to increase safety when portable electric equipment is being used.
