GFCI

I'm on an old old rock house way out in the sticks Boerne, TX. wired long long ago, Cannot get a GFCI outlet in bathroom box. The feed is off of a 12/3 so I plan to run (double lug) both hots at GFCI breaker so we get the bathroom protection. Will the breaker work like it is supposed to? I do know it is "illegal" to double lug.

Well, first off...where does the other leg of the 12/3 go? If you double it up, you no longer have an individual circuit to the bathroom. Unless the other leg goes only to other bathrooms and only their receptacles.

It will work, you'll lose the point of the MWBC.

I don't think it will work. You will have different return paths and the GFCI will think there is a fault. That's if the breaker is a single and not a 2-pole.

If both circuits land on a single pole along with the neutral there would be no problem.
Of course a double pole will work, only the neutral of the MWBC for the return current difference just needs to be connected to GFCI breaker that’s all.
This way each circuit of the MWBC will still get to utilize its full current capability. Only caveat is that if trips both circuits shut off, no big deal.

Ok. What about a Wiremold extension over the existing box. That should give you the space you need.

It us usually not. Most breakers allow two conductors in 12 and 14 gauge. IIRC they typically must be the same size however.

Are you saying it's legal / okay to double tap under most circuit breakers terminals?

Square D QO, yes, most everybody else, no. But that being said, splices in a panel are allowed, so a pigtail is allowed.
