Gfci?

If I'm reading 680.22(A) correctly, only cord and plug connected pool pump motors need GFCI protection. Hardwired motors with an appropriate disconnecting means do not??. Pumps will be in a pool house approx. 50 ft away from pool. Thanks.

Not a stupid question and it is asked very often. At one tome , nec2005 cycle, GFCI was not required if the pump was direct wired.
