Losing power is bad for critical stuff like sump pumps, so are there any current model GFCIs that don't trip upon self-test failure? Just blink or something...

If they trip on self test that means they are defective. I don't any will stay functioning if there is an issue.

What brand of GFCI's are you using ? If it's a quality and trusted American brand I would either bring them back or file a complaint. If you purchased some cheap ones made in China from some unreliable source (like the ones I purchased from a Florida based company) just throw them out and never buy from them again.

I know this is not the question.
Sump pumps should be on a simplex.

The new "self-test" standard does not require that the device trip on a failed test. There is at least one brand that will only alarm on a failed self test. The following is from the information sheet for one of the Legrand spec grade GFCIs.
Conducts an automatic test every three seconds, ensuring it's always ready to protect. If the device fails the test, the indicator light flashes to signal that the GFCI should be replaced.
One of Leviton's sheets says this:
If the self-test detects any condition that would indicate GFCI protection might be compromised, visual and audible
indicators provide an alert. It also has our patented RESET lockout feature that prevents RESET if the GFCI cannot respond to a ground fault
You have to read that closely as it doesn't say it trips on a failed self test, but it does say that it can't be reset if it has failed a self test.
