Is it permissible to install a GFI and a AFI on the same circuit? If so, is there a particular order in which one places them? In other words, coming from the Main breaker box to the wall outlet, does it matter if the GFI is placed in a service breaker box near the outlet or is the GFI always placed in the Main breaker box with the AFI in the service box near the outlet? I am installing a Jacuzzi in our bathroom with a service shut-off box in the bathroom closet. Although the GFI will definitely be on the circuit, I would like the added benefit of an AFI if such a setup is allowed. Thank you!

Right here.
It will function fine however you do it. My main concern would be if it's good for the environment to waste material like that.

Outside GFCI receptacles are frequently hung off a bedroom AF protected branch. It works fine. Cutler Hammer makes a combo AF/GF breaker that performs both function BTW.
