GFI for pool equipment?

Should all pool equipment have GFI protection for the electric circuit?

240V pumps?, gas water heaters?

Yes read through 680, many things require GFCI but not everything.

All electrical equipment 680.32. I assume it means pumps but it in not mentioned specifically for pumps (680.31)

keep in mind that 680.31 and .32 are in the storable pools section.

Well that section is just for the pump motors, if they are 120 or 240 volt single phase. (2017 code anyway)

680.22 and .23 also has some GFCI requirements for other items.

That changed for 2020. Previously, it was “pump motors.”
