hi
we have an 2500A , 480/277 V meter-service with 2500A, 3p GFI main C.B installed in corner of the property
feeding a 2500A, 480/277 V distribution gear with 2500A GFI main C.B at the exterior of the building.

Is this right; two main series connected ?

Thank you

There is no requirement for OCPD to get smaller as you go downstream.
But the second main must not be "suitable ONLY for use as service equipment" since it is connected to a feeder rather than service conductors and must separate the EGC and GEC from the neutral (or other grounded conductor.)
There is no problem other than coordination, if important to the customer, in connecting one GFI downstream from another GFI.

The ground fault protection in the service can protect the downstream equipment. Redundant protection is not required.
