Excuse me since I do not have my codebook but I believe it is covered in 210.8. Everything that I read states that gfi protection is required for receptacles. If I have a range hood on a dedicated circuit hard wired do I need gfi protection? Our inspectors in Jacksonville are trying to push the whole AFI/GFI thing but there really isnt anyone that is 100percent positive on what is required.

I can not locate anything in the NEC that would require AFCI or GFCI on a hardwired range hood unless that hood was equipped with a receptacle outlet.

Thanks for the reply, would it be fair to say that my dishwasher / dispos-all if hardwired would not require gfi protection?

They would not require GFCI protection even if they were cord and plug connected. Same thing applies to the range hood. Only receptacles serving the counter top require GFCI protection.

I have always said that one of the best written sections of the code is where GFCI's are required. Shouldn't be a lot of questions or guessing.
