any NEC for having a GFI outlet after X number of wire feet away from a GFI breaker? example, i am running ~90ft 12awg from GFI breaker to a junction box, from junction box tied to the 12awg is 14awg that runs another ~30ft to an outlet. does my outlet need to be GFI too?

Just a heads up..Mixing 12 & 14...make sure that you use a 15 A breaker.

my town folks approved a 20A GFI breaker in my plans. 14awg is after ~90ft of 12awg. i will need to re-visit the breaker.

for GFI after X feet, to see a 5mA fault at the breaker where the fault is say 100ft away, due to natural resistance in the wire it needs more volts to produce that 5mA at the breaker. from what i know of it, its the current that GFI protects against, but, a 5v/5mA zap is lower energy than say 30v/5mA, etc. you might ask how can it be 5v or 30v? because the path from mains (120v) to say you (perhaps through a wet power tool) may have some resistance in series which has reduced the voltage some, etc.

from MH's page
There are many different rules for sizing and protecting conductors and equipment. It is not simply No. 12 wire and a 20 ampere breaker or fuse. The general rule is that conductors must be protected in accordance with their ampacity as determined by Section 310-15, except as permitted or required in Sections 240-3(b) through (g).

In truth a GFCI becomes more prone to tripping the more conductor length you connect to the load side due to capacitance coupling of the hot to ground.
