Outside lights aren't required.
That "falls on the listing" of the GFI, but it's a high number. Supposedly the Cooper's were rated at 7 outlets, but I think that's because Cooper like selling GFI's.
See 210.8, Ground Fault Protection for Personnel.
Notice the key words, receptacles. Not outlets.

Sure, portable and mobile signs in article 600 and lighting near swiming pools in article 680 just to name two.
Some manufacturers specify GFCI protection when their fixtures are installed in wet locations.
(There is nothing in the NEC that prevents lighting to be GFCI protection.)

Yeah, I figured there was nothign that prohibited lighting from being GFI'ed--I was just curious if there was any ligthing outlets that were *required* to be GFI'ed. I'm just trying to figuer out why there's 3 GFI's in this kitchen...I think the third one might go to under cabinet lighting, unless there is 3 circuits in the kitch. Maybe I should just push the test button and see what happpens.

Stranger things have happened. Imagine my surprise when I discovered one of my SA outlets weren't GFI protected at all!
