I believe this is the right topic to post this question, When looking at a hair dryer the other day it had an integral gfi on the cord and plug however the plug only consisted of two blades. My question is how does the gfi on the cord and plug operate I assume it operated by sessing the current in the line and neutral conductors, when a difference occurs the devices operates opening the circuit at the cord and plug gfi device is this correct? does this mean you could plug this into a older electrical system receptacle 2-wire not ground and it would sitll operate? I look forard to hearing your opinions / answeres.

You are correct, a typical GFCI with trip at about 5 milli-amps.

Yes.
