Ran across a swimming pool area at a house where there is a gfic recpt. fed from a gfic breaker? Is this ok and is there any problem doing this? I asked the owner why and they told me the swimming pool installer ran this thinking it would be safer

There is no need for both but it should not be an issue.

As long as they are correctly wired

One problem is that you could trip both and confuse the homeowner on how to reset.

I would be surprised if both tripped at the same instance.
