I was doing my COC inspection the other day, I went into the kitchen to trip the GFIC receptacles, when I trip the GFIC it made a buzzing noise,I ask the contractor is the GFIC receptacles are making that noise, he told me that it is a new type of GFIC receptacle.
Have any seen this before? WoW!

Yes, I have used them in the past and they have been around for a while. They have an audible signal when tripped.

I use them for sump pump circuits and for garages.

Are you talking about the P&S (usually) ones that make that racket sometimes when they are tripped or first turned on? Something in the holding circuit?

I'm not sure the OP is talking about the alarm feature on some GFCI's. Which I use for sump pumps, etc.

If it was a unit with audible alarm - the ones I have installed had a switch for silencing the alarm if desired, but don't know why you would do that other then a temporary silence condition if something is failed and you can't reset it and don't want to listen to it.

Otherwise P&S devices have for some time now always made a buzzing sound that only lasts for a couple seconds the first time you power them up - but I don't know why.
