Good sources for learning solar

Other than working for a solar company. Are there any good sources for learning how solar works including how to install. Also. Is solar compatible with generators and how it works when power goes out

tons of options and resources. Also YouTube is a good source.
You can tie in a generator with a transfer switch.

Solar is compatible with generators under certain circumstances, in different ways. In most arrangements the solar shuts down when the grid goes down. To do otherwise gets expensive.
 
If you are starting from scratch a book Photovoltaic Systems by Dunlop is a great primer. Get all the back issues of Solar Professional magazine.
